Innsbruck is popular as a winter destination, increasingly so for those living outside of the region. If you plan to visit Innsbruck in November or December (or even in January), you’ll most likely have the opportunity to visit the Christmas markets.
Staying in one of my recommended hotels near Innsbruck Christmas market will give you convenient access to the markets and other attractions. This guide lists where to stay this winter, covering all budgets.
Hotels Near Innsbruck Christmas Market
Each year, at least seven Christmas markets take place in Innsbruck. There is a wonderful festive atmosphere with Christmas lights and decorations throughout the Old Town as well as in neighbourhood squares.
The following hotels are all within walking distance of at least three of the city’s main markets: the Old Town Christmas Market, Maria Theresien Street Christmas Market, and Advent at the Market Square (Marktplatz), which is located by the River Inn.
Top Pick
Stage 12 HotelAddress: 12 Maria-Theresien-Straße, Innenstadt, Innsbruck
Innsbruck’s best hotel is conveniently in the Innenstadt, the very centre of the city, directly in front of the Maria Theresien Christmas market. The Stage 12 Hotel is only a few years old and has been beautifully designed with large windows, timber floors and cool blue and grey interiors. It’s a modern, boutique hotel that includes a spa and gym. There is an electric car charging station if you are arriving by car or the main train station is a 10-minute walk away.

This hotel is a great option if you’re arriving by train and don’t want to carry your luggage too far.
Historic Hotel
Weisses Rössl
Address: Kiebachgasse 8, Innenstadt
This hotel is unlike other top-reviewed hotels in Innsbruck as it has a very traditional Austrian design instead of a more contemporary one. Located in the pedestrian area of the historic centre, it’s perfect for those who want to be near the Christmas markets. The old-established restaurant, with its 600 years of history, serves traditional Tyrolean specialities and seasonal cuisine.
