From the 26th of November until the end of December, almost the entirety of the Grande Île, Strasbourg’s historic city centre, is decorated in festive lights, decorations, Christmas trees. More than 300 wooden chalets sell arts and crafts along with food and drinks. The most popular Christmas markets are located on Place Kleber and in front of Strasbourg Cathedral. If you would like to stay within walking distance to the markets, then anywhere on the Grande Île, including the Petite France area would be ideal.

If you’re looking for an affordable hotel, you might be better off staying just outside of the historic centre. This might not be near the Christmas markets but it’s an affordable area, the hotel is new, clean with nice design features and it’s only a 20-minute walk to Strasbourg Cathedral.
