Best Area to Stay
Staying in the Lace Market means you’ll be in one of Nottingham’s most historically and culturally significant areas.
Once at the heart of the British lace industry, the Lace Market district is now home to converted Victorian redbrick buildings that are now popular gastropubs, independent stores, art galleries, coffee roasteries and bakeries.
I highly recommend staying in the Lace District if you can.
Here are some other popular areas:
- City Centre – Staying in the heart of Nottingham ensures you’re close to shops, restaurants, and attractions such as Old Market Square and Nottingham Castle. Various hotels, from budget-friendly to luxurious, cater to all preferences.
- Lace Market – This historic district is known for its beautiful architecture, independent shops, and vibrant arts scene. It’s an excellent choice for visitors looking to experience the city’s culture while staying near popular attractions. I like this area the best.
- Hockley – Often referred to as Nottingham’s Creative Quarter, Hockley is filled with trendy bars, restaurants, and boutique shops. It’s an ideal area for those who enjoy a lively atmosphere and local nightlife.
- West Bridgford – Situated south of the River Trent, West Bridgford is a peaceful residential area with easy access to both the city centre and green spaces like The Embankment and Holme Pierrepont Country Park. This area is perfect if you’d like a quieter stay close to nature.
- The Park – An upscale, residential neighbourhood near the city centre, The Park has a mix of Victorian and modern architecture and access to green spaces.
When choosing where to stay in Nottingham, consider your priorities, interests, and budget to ensure you find the perfect area that meets your needs.
If staying near the Christmas market and Winter Wonderland are priorities, then my top pick is one of the best places to stay.
