The hotel invests in local community and sustainability projects and supports local artists by displaying their artwork in the hotel. Hotel Heritage is located one street from the river and a 5-minute walk to Preseren Square.

A little bit further away is Hotel Mrak, a modern, clean and comfortable hotel that is less than a 10-minute walk to Ljubljana Christmas Market. It’s a lovely walk through the old cobblestone streets to get there are many art galleries and museums in this area too. Hotel Mrak is only a few minutes away from the river and cool cafes like Tozd, or you can eat at the hotel as it’s known for its excellent breakfast.

This won’t be for everyone, but it has the potential to make your winter break in Ljubljana very affordable. I visited this hotel last time I was in Ljubljana, and it’s a quiet and quirky hotel. Well worth it if you’re on a budget.
